CURRICULUM

Pre-primary Curriculum

1) Development of Motor and Cognitive Skills

Motor and cognitive development helps children to improve their sense and understanding of what happens around them. Awareness and intellectuality (reasoning, thinking, and remembering) are all essential points for growing children that will help to improve character as children grow and develop.

2) Improves Literacy Skills

Literacy skills are first developed in preschool before children reach school. During preschool years, children will become familiarized with alphabets, nursery rhymes, and stories, allowing them to identify sounds. All of these are crucial to developing pre-literacy skills and making the early years of formal schooling that much easier to absorb.

3) Promotes Social Skill Development

The ability to mix with others and cooperate starts at preschool. The curriculum is based on social activities that help all children not just mix with other children but teachers as well. It also creates the foundation for emotional development in young children.

4) Induces Curiosity & Learning

The best way to teach children is to induce curiosity as this incites the will to learn by asking questions and stimulating the thought and reasoning process. Curiosity and learning go hand-in-hand and apply to both indoor and outdoor learning and is a great way to get all children to participate in activities.

5) Improves Language Skills

Language skills are best developed in an environment where teachers promote speech and each individual is allowed to improve their vocabulary and language skills. This further helps in improving other skills like social skills, and literacy skills.

6) Creates Self-Awareness

Small children are usually not yet very aware of their actions and the actions of people around them at such a young age. But a preschool would be able to help with this. It makes children more aware of sounds and actions as well as helps to create a logical understanding of surrounding actions and noises.

GRADE 1 to 8 Curriculum

The curriculum for Grades 1 to 8 encompasses a comprehensive range of subjects designed to progressively build foundational knowledge and skills while integrating 21st-century skills. Starting in Grade 1, students are introduced to basic literacy, numeracy, and simple concepts in science and social studies. As they advance, the curriculum expands to include more complex topics such as fractions, geometry, and introductory grammar by Grade 3. Middle grades focus on enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and digital literacy through subjects like advanced mathematics, literary analysis, and science experiments. By Grade 6, students delve into pre-algebra, world history, and environmental science, emphasizing creativity, communication, and technological proficiency, preparing them for high school with analytical writing, algebra, and scientific inquiry by Grade 8. Throughout all grades, art, craft, and physical education are integrated to foster creativity, physical fitness, and overall well-being, ensuring a well-rounded education that equips students with the essential skills needed for the future.

ROBOTICS

Incorporating robotics into school education offers a dynamic way to enhance students’ learning experiences by merging science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) into practical, hands-on activities. Robotics can be introduced through the curriculum, extracurricular clubs, workshops, and collaborative projects, fostering an environment of creativity, innovation, and teamwork. Students benefit from enhanced problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and improved collaboration, all of which are essential for future careers in a technology-driven world. At GVGS, implementing a robotics program could start with a proposal to the school administration, securing funding, and providing teacher training to ensure effective guidance. By engaging students in robotics, we can make learning more enjoyable and relevant, preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow.

COMPOSITE LABS AND LANGUAGE LABS

Having well-equipped labs in schools significantly enhances the learning experience by providing students with hands-on opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge. Labs foster an environment of experimentation, curiosity, and innovation, which is crucial for subjects like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
